From Easter’s Creator
A frozen army of grass slowly raises up their swords,
Stomping stretching to restart the circulation of life amongst their hoards,
Feet energized by the prospect of fun pound forward to rebend the stems,
Glittering ovals of blue and green and yellow lie cradled in hidden beds,
Just waiting to jump out at the eager eyes belonging to the running feet,
Screeching “You found me!” in a shout of colors that the eyes long to eat,
And my sides are sewn together by a spasm of laughter as I hear their crazy banter.
The rich odor rolls over the porch and through the house,
As children gallop back with their found treasures and watering mouths,
To crack, peel, flake away the colorful shells,
Grubby hands reaching grabbing, fingers scratching pecking scrabbling,
Small teeth sinking deep into the white and yoke that lies beneath.
Beautiful wrinkles of years rippling through the lifetime of granny’s palms,
Her arms embracing every being that comes into her walls,
Children cuddled, held and rocked in her open loving arms,
This family’s hearts filling with My love, no longer crumpled soiled gloves,
Enlarged as I slide my hands into them and flexed my fingers to bring them to life,
Granny’s voice murmers warm and easy as she tells small ears of My story,
Why this day proclaims God’s glory,
And I whisper “Thank you for your words.”
sounds like you wrote that with some thoughts of your family in mind?
I really like the warmth of this poem, and the aliteration in the first portion of it. There is also nice imagery in the piece as well. Nice work!
